A Message to Those Who Feel Lost in Life

To Those Who Feel Lost in Life

I know you feel fearful, abandoned, and all alone. And I know you think nobody will ever understand your pain.

But I do.

I know how scary it can be to feel lost.

I know the pain that comes from having to walk each day without a sense of direction and without anyone to truly understand your pain.

I’ve been there.

I have lived through these dark and painful moments. And I know how terrifying it is to wake up each morning without knowing what to do with yourself, with your time and with your whole life.

When I started writing my first book, 15 Things You Should Give Up to Be Happy, I honestly thought the only thing I had to do was sit down and write the book.

Nothing more and nothing less.

So I did my part. I wrote the book and I did my best to be as honest and as truthful as possible.

But this clever book wanted me to do more than that.

It wanted me to honor my words with actions by going deep into each one of the 15 chapters and do the actual work. And without me even realizing, how and when it all happened, I went deep into myself and did the work. And oh, how painful that was…

Expectations vs Reality

We get so fixated on the direction we think we should be going and on the things we want to make happen, that when life takes us in a different direction, we panic.

“If the path before you is clear, you’re probably on someone else’s.” ~ Joseph Campbell

We like to think we are the ones in charge of our lives and that we have total control over our destinies. And I guess one of the reasons we feel lost at times is because we are too attached to how things should be.

When things started to change for me and I began walking on a different path than the one I thought I should be walking, I panicked.

And guess what were the thoughts that crossed my mind?

You’ve guessed it:

“I’m lost!!!!”

But was I?

Stay Humble

You see, I resented my book for everything it had me go through. I hated it for making me experience so much pain and so much darkness. I thought it was all a big mistake.

I thought it was all a big mistake.

And I had moments when I regretted putting it out there.

“With humility one can see that the mind is limited and incapable of seeing all the circumstances surrounding any event. Out of this arises the willingness to let go of condemnation and judgment.” ~ David Hawkins

But that’s the beautiful thing about Life and about who we truly are.

It would do anything just to see us free and happy.

And it would do anything to help us experience the infinite flow of Joy, Peace, Bliss and Love that’s present within us.

If you feel lost, it’s time to look within

You see, most of us are so busy doing everything this crazy world tells us that we should be doing that we have no time left to listen to our own Truth and Inner Guidance. We have no time left to reconnect with our Self and recognize the Right Path that has been already laid out in front of us from the beginning of time.

We seek safety and want security.

Nothing wrong with that.

But if we look for these things Out there instead of in Us, we will continue to feel lost. We will continue to feel abandoned, alone and disconnected.

However, if you look within, and if you learn to put your trust and faith in who you truly are by leaving aside all your fears, doubts and expectations, about how things should or shouldn’t be, you will realize that you are not lost.

The whole world is within you.

And thus, everything you have been looking for has been within you all along.

This is what I’ve learned

I’ve learned that we feel lost in life only because we don’t listen to who we truly are.

We don’t listen to our Truth.

We want approval. We want to be praised. We want to be loved. And if this means betraying our own Self, that seems to be fine with us.

We have become so unconscious of our unconsciousness and so ignorant of our ignorance that we can no longer understand the gravity of our actions and toxicity of behaviors.

We have learned how to numb ourselves to pain…

But don’t despair. All is not lost.

There is no need to despair. No need to cry and feel sorry for yourself.

Leave aside all your fears, doubts and expectations – about how things should or shouldn’t be, and know that you are exactly where you need to be.

You were never lost. And you can never be lost.

The whole world is within you. And thus, everything you have been looking for has been within you all along.

Surrender

You might think you have to plan and control everything because if you don’t your whole life will fall apart. But in fact, the opposite is true.

“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond the winning.” ~ Lao Tzu

There is Something in us that is Pure, Gentle, Gracious and Loving. Something that is beyond words and human comprehension. And if you trust It and let It do what It needs to do, you will find your way back Home. And you will realize that Home was within you all along

Align yourself with who you truly are by being still, peaceful, present and faithful, and allow the things you need to come your way. Because they will.

There’s no need to fear. No need to worry. No need to rush.

Just breathe. Surrender. Relax. And let go.

You are exactly where you need to be.

You are Home and you are Safe.

And this is my message for all those beautiful souls who feel lost. What about you? Have you ever felt lost in life? Do you feel lost right now? You can share your comment in the comment section below.
