“The more you feed your mind with positive thoughts, the more you can attract great things into your life.”~ Roy T. Bennett,
We have heard it a million times, haven’t we? People always tell us to ‘think positively’. But is there really something to it? Let me tell you that with the power of positive thinking, you can actually transform your life into something amazingly beautiful.
So, what is positive thinking exactly? It’s not just a way for you to walk around with your head in the clouds without ever realizing what’s actually happening around you. It’s not about ignoring life and living in a dream. Positive thinking is an attitude that focuses on all the good in this world and it’s the way you expect positive results.
The Transformative Power of Positive Thoughts
Just by changing a few of your habits and adjusting your mind to shift to more positive thoughts, you can achieve amazing things and transform your life completely! For that same reason, I will be giving you a few things that helped me out and made my life a lot better:
1. Practice gratitude
All of us forget to fall in love with the things we have in our lives because we forget that someone out there isn’t able to have what we have. We take everything, even our lives, for granted, never realizing how important it is to be grateful for everything that surrounds us. Once a week, sit down and write down all those things that you are grateful for. Sometimes, you can even write something bad that happened to you, simply because you are now richer for an experience and you have learned something new.
2. Start your days with positive affirmations
When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself an affirmation that you will hold on to for the rest of the day. Affirmations are a powerful tool because they reset your mindset and they let you think in a whole other way than you have even thought before. Examples of affirmations are, “My body is healthy, my mind is sharp, my soul is peaceful”, “I love myself unconditionally.”
Write down your affirmation on your hand or on a piece of paper that you will hold onto for the rest of the day. Repeat it to yourself whenever you think that you are not being positive!
3. Pay attention to the positive
We tend to be so overwhelmed with all the depressing and bad things that are happening all around us that we forget completely about all those positive things that are happening to us.
Even if we’re trying to recall a memory, we almost always focus on the bad part that’s attached to the story. For that same reason, we should always pay attention to the positive side of the story. If it was a bad experience, then you have learned something new—and that’s a positive thing.
Find something positive in every story and I guarantee you that your whole outlook on life will change. Even if you’re a guy and the girl you like called you ‘bro’, it isn’t really the end of the world, is it?
Sometimes, we do this without even thinking about it. We just continue on negatively talking about ourselves and it creeps under our skin without us even realizing how damaging it can be for our health and our image of the world. So how about we turn that frown upside down?
When you look at yourself in the mirror don’t say, ‘look how fat I am’ or anything that could bring you down. Instead, use that moment to compliment yourself and smile. If it’s needed, send love letters to yourself and make your own day better. All of us owe ourselves an apology for all the bullying we do in front of the mirror.
5. Find positive friends
Just because we’re afraid to be alone doesn’t mean that we should surround ourselves with people who aren’t even able to appreciate us and only bring us down. We are natural empaths and for that same reason, we take all the energy of the people around us into our own lives, so we end up depressed, worried and negative.
The next time you meet someone negative, just leave. Find yourself some positive people who can help you on your journey to a better life—simple people who are positive.
