8 Signs You Are an Incredibly Brave Person

Being a Brave Person

“I am not a funny person, what I am is brave person.” ~ Lucille Ball

The definition of Brave: having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty:  having or showing courage.

I have a confession to make; bravery is not something I often feel. When I think about life and the way I want to live it, I know a key ingredient is having the courage to face my fears and challenges. There are things I want to create, places I want to see, people I want to meet, items I want to own.

I spend hours thinking about all this, however, if I had to choose what I really want it would simply be, the strength to honor my potential. In other words, to be brave enough to listen, ask, do, learn, be and grow. To me, being brave means being my authentic self. It is what is hiding under the layers of people pleasing, insecurity and shame.

Though I deeply know that bravery isn’t something you have to get, it is something that you already are.

2. You share your thoughts and feelings with others

If you have ever shared your opinion or true feelings with a friend or stranger, you are an incredibly brave person. Being vulnerable enough to open what is inside takes courage.

3. You reach out for support

If you have taken any step to ask for and receive help, you are an incredibly brave person. We are not alone, though it can feel like it at times. Asking for help changes people’s lives, not only for those receiving but for those that are giving.

4. You love deeply

If you love anyone and have expressed your love, you are truly brave. Love is what makes the world go round and gives us meaning. When you love, you put yourself at risk for the pain that comes along with it.

5. You give your gifts with the world

If you offer to help your friends and share your talents, whether it be bringing a dish to dinner or giving advice about paint color, you are brave. It doesn’t feel like anything special but you are putting yourself out there by giving more of yourself and it makes a difference to those receiving.

6. You can let go

8. You face the day with possibility (even if it is just a glimmer)

If you got up this morning and started your day even though things are hard and you’re not feeling it, you are brave. With each action, you are sending out a message to the world. You’re saying, I am still here and working on it. I may not have it all figured out yet, but I am here and ready.
