21-Day Happiness Challenge Day 21

21-Day Happiness Challenge Day 21: Let Go of the People Who No Longer Need, or Want to Be in Your Life

“Love liberates. It doesn’t just hold—that’s ego. Love liberates. It doesn’t bind. Love says, ‘I love you. I love you if you’re in China. I love you if you’re across town. I love you if you’re in Harlem. I love you. I would like to be near you. I’d like to have your arms around me. I’d like to hear your voice in my ear. But that’s not possible now, so I love you. Go.’” ~ Maya Angelou

You let go of someone not because you no longer care, not because you no longer need and want them in your life, but because you understand that they will be happier someplace else. You will be happy someplace else. And this is what true love is really all about it.

Let Go of the People Who No Longer Need, or Want to Be in Your Life Exercise: 21-DAY Happiness Challenge – Day 21

Think of that one relationship you have been trying to cling on to for so long. That one person you have been trying to prevent from leaving. And feel the pain that this clinging has brought upon you.

Stay in that space and much as needed, and whenever you’re ready, close your eyes, take three deep cleansing breaths, and with your hand over your heart imagine saying these words to them:

“I now give you permission to leave.

To go where your heart needs you to go, and to live the life you’re meant to live. (Keep in mind that it’s the relationship that you are letting go of but not the love you have for the other person.)

I would like for you to be near me. But that’s not possible now, so I love you. Go.

I release you and I set you free.

I set myself free…”

As soon as you say these words, imagine the invisible link that kept both of you in an unhealthy attachment for so long being permanently removed, and all the feelings of sadness, hurt and helplessness melt away.

You are free… 🙂

Congratulations!
