10-Qualities-Every-Human-Being-Should-Have-498x349-1024x768

“If, then, I were asked for the most important advice I could give, that which I considered to be the most useful to the men of our century, I should simply say: in the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you.” ~ Leo Tolstoy, Essays, Letters and Miscellanies

You know what I’ve noticed as I began to accept, love and embrace myself more and more each day? That I also started to love the world around me a lot more than I used to and that I developed a deep sense of environmental and social responsibility. And that I started to become a lot more aware of how I spend my time and how I live my life.

I begin to care a lot more about what happens, not only in my home, in my life, and in the lives of those I love, but in the whole world. I began to care about the environment, about how parents raise their children, about how couples treat one another, about what children study in school, about the food people eat, about what people do in their spare time in order to relax and rejuvenate themselves, etc. And before I knew it, I woke up with a deep sense of environmental and social responsibility.

I guess that’s what love does to you. I guess once again I am being reminded how powerful love is and why it is so important to embrace who we are with all our hearts. Because once we do, we start to care about all things and all people. And when we care, we can’t help but look for ways to change and to improve the world we live in. And we can’t help but look for ways to make this world a better place for us to live in.

Looking around me and seeing how most people live their lives on auto pilot, scares me, and it saddens me. Because I know that we were all born unique and authentic and that there is a purpose to all of our lives. But if we follow all the rules blindly and if we do everything that most of the people around us do without asking ourselves whether it is the right thing for us to do, chances are that we will never realize our true potential and we will never fully awake.

Here is a very profound and thought-provoking 6 minutes video from the great and wise Alan Watts, a video that will most probably cause you to question the way you spend your time, and also create and bring more awareness in your everyday life.

Enjoy 🙂
