Do-You-Know-Who-Your-True-Friends-Are

“A true friend is someone who is there for you when he’d rather be anywhere else.” ~ Len Wein

I was once out with my best friend to have dinner one evening. And across from us, there were these two girls who were constantly checking their phones and taking photos of themselves and their meals. But without actually saying a word to one another. We stayed there for almost two hours and in those two hours, that’s all they did. Snapping photos of their meals, taking selfies with a scripted smile on their faces and then probably uploading those photos on Facebook and Twitter to show their many virtual friends what a great time they were having. Crazy ha?

This is what the world has come to. The virtual world has become a lot more important than the real world. And our many virtual and so called friends are a lot more important than our real friends. We care more about getting Likes than we do about giving and receiving real Love. We care more about spending time on Facebook than we do about spending quality time with those we love.

We’re becoming machines. Heartless men and women who seek approval through technology and no longer through real human interactions. The virtual life has taken over our real life and the sad part is that we don’t even realize how sad this is.

“Human relationships used to be easy: you had friends, boy- or girlfriends, parents, children, and landlords. Now, thanks to social media, it’s all gone sideways.” ~ Susan Orlean

We are human beings. We have hearts, we have feelings and we have emotions. We’re not machines. We need to learn to connect with people not just through technology, but by physically interacting with them. By loving them and by allowing them to love us. By being present where we are and by giving them more love and attention than we give to our virtual friends. Because that’s what true friendship is really all about.

We need to learn to make the difference between real friends and virtual friends. Between true friends who love and care for us and people who Like and Share our posts. And this video might help trigger the necessary ideas in your head that will help you do just that.

Enjoy 🙂

Do You Know Who Your True Friends Are?

** Learn to use technology but don’t let technology use you. And most important, learn to make the difference between people who actually truly care for you and people who virtually care for you. Because trust me, there’s a big difference between these two.
