The Value and Importance of the Present Moment

“As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love – even the most simple action.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Being completely immersed in the NOW was a foreign concept to me for more than 25 years. But when I read Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now, it all changed. And it continued to change from that day onwards.

If you ask me, most of us have no idea how to be fully engaged in the present moment. Living in the busy world we are living, constantly having to do something. Running from one place to another and thinking about the billions of things we need to do, we miss out on the present moment completely. We miss out on the innocence of our children and on the love of our friends and family. We miss out on the beauty that surrounds us and we miss out on life. Because life is here and now. Life isn’t in the past or future. Life is in the present moment. To quote John Lennon, life is what happens while we’re busy making other plans.

In this beautiful 10 minutes TED Talk, Mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe talks about the value and importance of the present moment, and how, by taking 10 minutes out of your day to be mindful and experience the present moment fully, your whole life will forever change.

Enjoy!
