30-Life-Lessons-Ive-Learned-in-30-Years-

As I was contemplating and expressing my gratitude for all the beautiful and loving things that have happened to me all of these years, I decided to share with you 30 of the many lessons I have learned in these 30 years I have lived on this Earth.

Enjoy!

30 Life Lessons I’ve Learned in 30 Years

1. Life is a precious gift.

Life is a valuable and precious gift that is meant to be treasured, appreciated and enjoyed. It is given to you freely and openly and your only task is to enjoy it and make the best of it.

2. You are the center of your own universe.

Your life is yours to live, for yourself first and for others second. And the same applies to everyone else. You are the center of your own universe and the more you honor yourself and who you are, living life for yourself first and for others second, the more abundant and beautiful your life will get and the more you will have to offer, not only to yourself but also to the whole world.

3. Your life is here and now.

Your life is here and now. Your life is not ‘there’ in the past or ‘there’ in the future. Your life is here, where you are right in this moment. It begins here and it ends here. And if you don’t understand this, you will get lost and you will waste your life away.

4. You are not your past, and you are not your present. You are whatever you envision yourself to be.

You are not your past and you are not your present. You are whatever you choose to be. Whatever you envision yourself to be.

The past has no power over you, nor does the present. Since imagination is a powerful tool with which you can bend reality, shift and transcend limitations, you are always free to choose something else, something better. With the power of your mind, with the power of your imagination, you can always transcend the past, the present and you can transcend any limitations that were imposed on you by yourself, by others or by life itself. “You possess what the rest of Nature does not possess—Imagination —the instrument by which you create your world.

Your imagination is the instrument, the means, whereby your redemption from slavery, sickness, and poverty is affected. If you refuse to assume the responsibility of the incarnation of a new and higher concept of yourself, then you reject the means, the only means, whereby your redemption—that is, the attainment of your ideal—can be affected.” ~ Neville, The Power of Awareness

5. Happiness is a balance between holding on and letting go.

Happiness is nothing more than a balance between holding on and letting go. In order for you to be really happy, all you have to do is let go of the things that make you unhappy and hold on to those things that make you happy. It’s that simple and yet that complicated.

6. Friends come and go.

Friends come and go. Some of them might stay with you for a longer period while others for a shorter period of times. But don’t be sad. Just love them all. Love them when they are with you and love them when they are away from you. Love everything and everyone but without being attached to anything or anyone. Just love them all.

7. The road less traveled can be a lonely one.

If you take the road less traveled, going to places where more most people don’t dare to go, and doing things that most people don’t have the courage to do, don’t expect to have a nonstop party. For this isn’t a crowded place, on the contrary, it is quite a lonely one at times.

8. Don’t believe everything you think.

The mind is constantly looking for trouble, doing its best to create all kind of problems, problems that later on will try to “solve”. That’s what the mind does, that’s what the mind wants. Don’t let your mind play with you. Don’t believe everything you think, especially those negative and self-defeating thoughts.

9. Fear is nothing but an illusion.

No matter how real and frightening your fears might appear, and no matter how much pain you might feel because of them, the truth of the matter is that fear has no real essence. Fear has no real power over you, except that which you give to it.

Your fears are nothing but illusions, illusions that keep you from being fully aligned with you truly are. The pain you feel whenever you cling onto fear doesn’t come from fear itself but rather from your belief that fear has the power to hurt you. And when you give fear power of you, making it look real and solid, you move away from who you are at the core level.

When you cling onto fear, you immediately give up on love and you give up on yourself. You move away from your true nature, your real essence, which is love, and that’s what’s causing you to suffer, that’s what’s causing all that pain.

10. Your Soul is your wisest and most trusted counselor.

Pay close attention to what others have to tell you, to what books have to teach you, but never make other people’s voices more important than your own inner voice. Always remember that within you lies the answer to all of your life’s questions. It’s all in your heart.

In the whole world, you won’t find anyone as wise, as reliable as your own Soul. Your Soul is your wisest and most trusted counselor, the voice that connects you to the Infinite Source that created the whole Universe. Trust that voice.

“I have been a seeker and I still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my Soul.” ~ Rumi

11. The way is in the heart and not in the sky.

Within the heart of every man and woman lies the map for their own life journey. If you want to know what your life path is, if you want to know what instrument you need to play, look within your heart, for that is where you will find all that you need, want and desire. Your work, your gifts, your map… they’re all within you. They’re all in your heart.

12. Silence is wisdom.

Silence is wisdom. It is the language of God. It’s how our Souls communicate with the Source of all things. And those who aren’t comfortable with silence will never be able to fully hear and enjoy the beautiful and magical music that God plays for them.

13. You are in this world but not of it.

You are in transition. this world is not your world. You came here to experience the beauty of being in a body, and the excitement that comes from living in a material world. You came here to experience the physicality of things. To create and to have fun in your physical form. But you are not your body. You are a soul, you have a body. You are in this world but not if it.

“All day I think about it, then at night, I say it. Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from elsewhere, I’m sure of that, and I intend to end up there.” ~ Rumi

14. The world is your mirror.

The world is nothing but your mirror, reflecting back at you the things you need to accept, embrace, forgive and give up on. So “Stop trying to change the world since it is only the mirror. Man’s attempt to change the world by force is as fruitless as breaking a mirror in the hope of changing his face. Leave the mirror and change your face. Leave the world alone and change your conceptions of yourself.” ~ Neville Goddard, Your Faith is Your Fortune

15. Love the people who treat you right, walk away from the ones who don’t.

Respect yourself enough to “walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.” ~ Karl Marx (composer)

16. Pour your heart and soul into all that you do.

Do your best not to chase money, fame, and fortune. For none of these things will ever bring you long lasting happiness. Instead, seek to always do your best. To pour your heart and soul into everything you do. Always aspire to offer real value and to create work that matters. By doing so abundance will follow you. For money is nothing but a bi- product of doing what you love.

17. Life isn’t a competition.

Life isn’t a competition about who is better, faster, richer, better looking and so on. Life is a beautiful thing that is meant to be appreciated and fully lived by each and every one of us. Not in a way that makes us look better than those around us, but in a way that makes us look better than we used to look.

18. There will always be good days and bad days.

No matter how spiritual and positive you are, and no matter how much you work on cleansing and loving yourself, you will still have good days and bad days. There will still be moments when you will feel like screaming and withdrawing from the world around you, and that’s okay. It’s all part of your spiritual growth and evolution. Every experience, either good or bad is helping you to become the beautiful and loving being you were born to be.

19. If life sends your way a loyal friend, treasure him.

Loyalty has become a luxury nowadays. A rare and precious treasure. And if you ever happen to find someone who knows the value of loyalty, treasure and love that person, for you have been blessed with a very rare and precious jewel.

20. The more you let go of what you love, the more present your love becomes.

Love, the most beautiful and the most powerful force in the universe has no interest in holding onto people, in changing or in controlling the course of things. Love only wants to love. Love’s only interest is to love, and where there is control, where there is effort and struggle, love does not and cannot exist.

True love liberates. It releases people and it allows them to experience the freedom that their souls came here to experience. If you truly love someone, you let them go. You release them and you allow them to be free. And if they decide to come back to you, it’s fine. And if they don’t, it’s also fine. Because true love transcends the material plane and no matter if your bodies are apart, your souls will forever be connected.

21. Don’t ever put anyone on a pedestal.

It’s okay to have mentors, people who inspire you and people whom you admire, but never put anyone on a pedestal. Never think of anyone as being more or less superior than you yourself are. On the surface, we might all look different but at the core level, we are all the same.

22. Do yourself a big favor and stay away from labels.

Pay very close attention to the words you use to describe yourself, your life and the people around you. Stay away as much as possible from placing labels onto people, things, and experiences and do your best to look beyond the surface. Be preoccupied with the depths and not the surface, with the fruit and not the flower.

23. You can’t be liked by everyone.

No matter how kind and loving you are, and no matter how much good you put out there, there will always be people who won’t like you. There will always be people who will have something against you. But that’s their problem, not yours. Don’t take it personally. Don’t make their darkness your own.

“Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.”  ~ Lao Tzu

24. When you forgive, you welcome love and abundance back into your life.

Forgiveness opens your heart, allowing you to receive many of the beautiful and wonderful gifts that others might have taken away from you. When you forgive, you open up your arms and your heart, sending a signal out there, letting life know that you are ready and willing to receive many of the gifts that life has to offer you.

25. There is no one in the entire universe as beautiful, as unique and as valuable as you yourself are.

You are a unique, valuable and precious human being. There is no one in the whole world just like you. Your value comes from your uniqueness and your authenticity. It doesn’t come from you being like everyone else.

If you try to trim yourself to suit the whole world, you will eventually whittle yourself away, dimming your own inner light and becoming less and less of the man/woman you were born to be.

26. Many of the so called leaders of the world have no idea what they’re doing.

Don’t put your life in other people’s hands. Don’t wait for leaders to save you and make your life better. That’s not their job, that’s yours. You have in you the strength, the power, and the confidence to lead your own life and to shape your own destiny. Don’t let a blind world trick you into thinking that you know nothing and they know everything. Take matters into your own hands. Be the change you want to experience in your life and in the world. Be your own savior, your own healer, and your own hero.

“Leave them; they are blind guides [of the blind]. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” ~ Matthew 15:13-14

27. A humble heart is a noble heart.

No matter how far you go in life and no matter how successful you might become, keep your two feet on the ground. Stay humble. Stay grounded. Your value doesn’t not come from what you do or how much you have but rather from who you are deep down inside and from how you treat the world around you. Always remember that to have a humble heart is to have a noble heart.

“All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power. If you want to govern the people, you must place yourself below them. If you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them. The Master is above the people, and no one feels oppressed. She goes ahead of the people, and no one feels manipulated. The whole world is grateful to her. Because she competes with no one, no one can compete with her.” ~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

28. Have a thankful heart

Be thankful for every second you have lived on this planet. Express your gratitude for both the good and the bad in your life. Appreciate everything and everyone and know that by doing so, life will shower you with many of its beautiful, loving and abundant gifts.

29. Nothing is ours to keep.

Nothing is ours to keep. Not our bodies, not our possessions, not our families, not our friends, not our money and not our lives. It is all given to us for a short period of time, to enjoy but not to keep.

30. Death is not the end.

Your body is the vehicle you need to exist in this physical world, but the vehicle is not who you are. And when the body ‘dies’, the Soul continues to exist, to live and to experience life in a different and more magical way.

Growing older means growing wiser and many of us wish that the knowledge we have now in our 30’s, 40’s 80’s or 90’s was available to us in our 20’s. Am I right? Well, if you could go back in time and give a piece of advice to your younger self, what would that be? You can share your insights by joining the conversation in the comment section below 🙂
