“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John F. Kennedy
There are so many wonderful things worth appreciating. Ourselves, our lives, the people around us and the world we live in. We spend so much time focusing on our problems, on the things that are wrong with ourselves and the world we live in, that we forget to appreciate and enjoy the many things that are right with ourselves and the world around us.
If you ask me, we place too much attention on the negative, the ugly… on fear, scarcity, and poverty, and not enough attention on positivity, affluence, beauty, and love.
For some reason, we assume that it’s normal to be serious, rigid and pessimistic and abnormal to be playful, ecstatic, positive, loving and full of life.
In her book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”, Marianne Williamson talks about how “When infants aren’t held, they can become sick, even die. It’s universally accepted that children need love, but at what age are people supposed to stop needing it? We never do. We need love in order to live happily, as much as we need oxygen in order to live at all.”
We need love to feel alive and this love starts pouring through our veins the moment we start showing our gratitude and appreciation for who we are, what we have, for the people around us and for life itself. The more we learn to appreciate what we have and who we are, the more things we will have to appreciate.
What you focus on, expands and what you resist, persists.
Talk about the things you love, and you will attract more things to be thankful for. Talk about the things you dislike, and you will attract more things to dislike. It is how it is.
Life doesn’t discriminate, it gives you what you think and feels worthy of receiving.
“Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts.” ~ Alan Cohen
A thankful heart is a happy heart and the more you will learn to appreciate life for what is, the more life will appreciate you for what and who you are.
But enough about that. Let me tell you what I have on my mind.
As you may already know, on our PurposeFairy Facebook Page, we decided to make February #AppreciationMonth. And since there are 3 weeks left, I was thinking to spilt them like this:
Week 1 – Appreciate the Simple Things in Life
Week 2 – Appreciate Yourself
Week 3 – Appreciate Those Around You
If you like this idea and if you want to join this Appreciation movement, here’s what you can do:
If you have something you are thankful, grateful and excited about, and if you think it’s worth sharing with the rest of the world, put it on your Facebook wall or on the PurposeFairy Facebook Page.
Share what you have to share – photo, message, video, etc., and by adding #AppreciationMonth to your message, you will automatically be part of this Appreciation Movement. (Make sure that you check your privacy settings to make sure that you appear in the #AppreciationMonth searches )
And at the end of the month, once the campaign is over, I will go over all your posts, and the person who shared the most moments of appreciation by using the #AppreciationMonth will receive a special gift, gift that I will personally announce in my next video.
Let’s show the world how much there is to be thankful for, shall we?
P.S. Remember, the focus of this week is to Appreciate the Simple Things In Life 🙂
