What does Your Ideal Self look like?

Let me ask you a question. In your mind, do you have an image of how the ideal YOU should look like, live like, be like?

Do you know what you want to be, who you want to be as a human being? And I am not talking about who you want to be in terms of profession/ career, or anything like that, but rather, who you want to be as a human being? What are your values, what do you stand for, and who are the people that inspire you the most? Who are the people you look up to?

Me, personally I want to reach to this point where everything I do, I do it because of my love for people. No ego involved in anything I do. I want to be able to offer the best of me to others and to share my knowledge and insights with the world.

I want to give as much as I can to as many people as possible, for this is where my happiness comes from, this is what brings meaning to my life, this is what makes my heart sing of joy.

There are times when I slip, there are moment when I forget about what I love the most and about what I believe in, and I get caught up in others things that don’t mean that much to me, things that us humans do because we “have to”, and a lot of times not because we love to.

It’s so easy to lose yourself, so easy to forget about your dreams, so easy to forget about what you truly love, and those who manage to stay true to themselves, their values and beliefs, their hopes and dreams, those are the people who will impact so many lives, those are the people who will find real happiness, for I believe that there is no bigger happiness than being true to oneself.

Know what you want from your own self, from life, and what’s most important, know what you want to offer to this world and the people around you, know what are your gifts and talents, value them, treasure them, nurture them, and share them with as many people as possible, in as many ways as possible.

Promise yourself that you will be true to them, promise yourself that you will always believe in yourself, in who you are and the many incredible things you are capable of doing. Promise yourself that no matter what happens to you and/ around you, you will remain laser focused on the things you want to achieve and that, no matter if you slip or not, you will always go back to walking the path, your own path. Promise yourself that when the time will come, when you will be old and blissful, you will look back at your own life and you will say to yourself:

“This path that I have been walking… it’s exactly the path that I wanted to be walking on. I am content, and I know that if I had to go back and do it all again, I will do everything exactly the same, for this is what I wanted my life to look like.”

Sad but true. I don’t think anybody knows who they are until they know Jesus christ. We will be looking for ourself all over the map. Know your creator first. If you know who he is and what he is about, it will be easy to know yourself.

Fran, that is okay. You might want to make your main purpose for now, finding what you love and I can tell you from my own experience that the answers will come your way 🙂

What if you don’t know what you really want?

We are what we are subconsciously. Knowing who we want to be might unintentionally contradict with who we are. That’s when stress and anger sits in. Proper discipline and self awareness is the key to success. Saying goes ” Lead yourself well before leading your followers then your leaders”

What you say is true. As human beings, we must either suffer the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. It’s our decision to freely choose which path we prefer. They say that keenness of insight is due to keenness of vision, and I can tell your vision is strong. Keep going hard, and thanks for the encouragement.

Thankyou for writing this – I’ve been musing on values a lot lately and where my life is at in comparison to where I would like it to be. Realising your values and making those promises is such a powerful experience – thankyou again for sharing this.
