Three Steps To Go From Poor To Rich

There is a quote from Lao Tzu that goes like this:

“If you realize you have enough, you are truly rich.” Lao Tzu

How many people do you know that are content with what they have and with who they are? I know none. Not even a single person, no matter if rich or poor. None. They are all talking about wanting, needing, wishing… and none of them can really affirm that they are happy with what they have, that they have enough.

What does this mean? All we can here is people who talk about not having: ”I want more money; I don’t have enough money; I need a new car; I want more cars. I wish I had more clothes; I want and need more clothes. I want to change my job so that I can earn more money, to buy more stuff that I don’t even need; I don’t have enough friends, I don’t have enough lovers, I don’t have enough of anything in fact!”

No matter how much money we make, no matter how many expensive cars we have, no matter how many houses we own, no matter how many friends we have, and so on, it’s never enough for us. We are never satisfied. We want more, more, and more. You would think that the moment you receive all of them, you will probably become the happiest person on the planet, but that’s rarely the case. Still, it’s not enough. There is more out there. You want it all, and if you don’t have it all, that means you don’t have enough. And you need more in order to be able to say: “In this moment I have enough. Finally!” But we both know that there will always be more, and we will always strive for that “more”.

This is poverty thinking. Wanting more and more comes from a feeling of not having, and if you ask me, this is scarcity thinking. So how do you go from wanting, from begging the universe for more, from asking, to thanking? How do you go from scarcity, from poverty thinking to prosperous thinking? Is that even possible? Can you imagine yourself saying: “Oh my… I have enough. In fact, I have more than enough. Lucky me. No more running, no more trying to get more, no more complaining about not having. No more poverty thinking. I can now start showing my appreciation for all that I am, for all that I have.”

What a pleasant image that will be, right? It can be more than that, in fact, it can become your reality, and here’s how:

1. Give up your need for security

Yes. You heard me. Give up your need for security. What does that even mean? What does security mean to you? Have you ever encountered with security? Have you seen it? Have you felt it? Have you touched it? Have you owned it? Of course, you haven’t! There is no security. People invented this word and then they attached a value to it. Crazy people.

Security is just an illusion, an illusion that insecure people need in order to feel better about life, because, if you ask me, only insecure people will strive for security. Only insecure people will look for all kind of ways to make them feel secure. Wanting security comes from a place of fear. Fear of shortages, fear of lack, fear of not having, etc. Those who strive for security tend to think that there isn’t enough to go around and that they need to accumulate as much as possible, so when the time will come, that day when the shortages will knock on their door, they will have plenty of security accumulated, hidden somewhere under the bed, in the basement, in the refrigerator, etc. and maybe, just maybe they will be safe. They prepare themselves for this.

They live in fear, fear of something that does not exist, and they make all kind of scenarios in their minds, and they prepare themselves for that.

They prepare themselves for the future, they prepare themselves for experiencing something that they say they don’t want or need, but they work so hard on attracting it. All of their thoughts are working on attracting that in their lives, because you know, where focus goes, energy flows.

Why in the world would you feel the need for security if you know that there is enough, that you have enough, you are enough? If you see yourself as not having enough right now, you will definitely see yourself as not having enough the moment you will receive the “more” you need.

Change your poverty thinking and you will change your whole life, forever.

2. TRANSITION from asking, to thanking

The moment you realize how insane it is to look for something that does not exist, to look for an illusion, to look for security, the moment you will stop doing that, you will be able to give thanks for all that you have, and for all the wonderful things, people, that are already present in your life. Like I said before, security comes from a place of fear, and what does fear do? Fear attracts more fear in your life, more scarcity thoughts and more poverty thinking. The moment you start expressing your gratitude and appreciation for all that you have, you will notice how you will have even more things to express your gratitude and appreciation for. When fear disappears, abundance appears, and that’s exactly what you are, and what you have.

When fear disappears, abundance appears, and that’s exactly what you are, and what you have.

You are abundance, you already are one with it, not separate from it. I really believe that there is enough for each and every one of us and that there is abundance in the universe, but it all depends on where we choose to place our focus and attention, on the lack, on the shortages, or on the abundance that is present within and without. There is enough to go around, and all you have to do is to shift your focus from not having, from wanting more, from what’s missing, to what you have, to the abundance that is present all around us, and  you will see how much better that will make you feel, and how much more of that you will be able to attract in your life.

And I want to clarify one more thing here. You are not going to remain always and forever with what you have at this moment. No. The idea is for you to be content, to be grateful for all the wonderful gifts that life has offered you so far, knowing that gratitude and appreciation will attract more wonderful things, people, and situations, while scarcity, insecurity, and fear will only push them all away.

All that you are, and all that you have is good enough, appreciate your present life, your present circumstances, and be thankful for all that you have, for all that you are, and realize that: “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”  Melody Beattie

3. REALIZE you have enough; in this moment you have enough

That’s right. Tell yourself: “In this moment I have enough. In my life, nothing is lacking. I am grateful, I am content and I am happy with what I have, and I know that everything I need, the universe will supply.”

You see, it’s just a matter of how you choose to think and process all that is happening to you and all around you. It’s just a matter of where you choose to place your focus and attention. This is the only difference between a rich person and a poor person, and when I say rich, I’m not talking about having tons and tons of money, because I know people who have that and they are poor, really poor.

Poverty is a state of mind. You can have billions and billions of dollars, but if you think about others who might come and take them all away from you, if you think about those who might have more than you do, if you think about not having enough, because there are still more money in the world that aren’t yours, you are really poor. That’s the difference between a poor person and a rich one. It’s not about how much you have, but about how much you see yourself as having or not having, it’s about being grateful or ungrateful.

That’s it.

That’s all there is to it.
