If You Only Knew How Great You Are

“Even the least among you can do all that I have done, and greater things.” ~ John, 14:12

Have you heard these words before? I know I have but I guess I wasn’t paying too much attention to them before. Now I look at them I read them and I feel like there’s nothing left for me to say because it’s all in there. What else can be said? I don’t want you to believe that this is a religious place or a cult because it’s not. All that I’m trying to do is discover our true nature, who we really are and among other great books, I happen to also study the Greatest Book that was ever written, The Bible.

I have nothing against religion, don’t get me wrong, I was born a Christian but what I have noticed is that religion tends to separate people. I have a great deal of respect for each and every single person that lives and ever lived on this planet and it makes no difference whether they are Muslims, Jewish, Hindus, Buddhists or you name it. We are all the same, we are all one and the same place that you came from I did too. We were all created by the same Divine intelligence and no matter if you choose to accept this or not we are all the same, we are all one. We are all like that which we came from, like the Source which created us all, and if you read the words of Jesus over and over again, you will eventually realize this to be true. “Even the least among you can do all that I have done, and greater things.” Even the least among you! What do these words leave behind? Nothing and no one!

Your thoughts create the image you have about yourself and based on that image, you create the world for yourself, and it’s only up to you if you want to choose to live a mediocre life or a beautiful and precious life, a life that has to mean for you, for you and for the whole world. I’m not telling you anything that you don’t know already, for we all know this to be true, it’s just that we forgot, and now I am here to remind you how great you are, and how many wonderful things can be accomplished by you, by me, and by each and every person on the face of earth. All we need to do is awaken, awaken from the deep sleep most of us are in and start seeing the world from a new light, a new perspective… as it really is.

It seems to me that we read the books we read, we go to schools we go and we hear great words being spoken to us, and a lot of time they have no impact on us. It appears to me that we do many of these things just so we can say that we have done them. When you read something, when you hear somebody speak, do you really know what those words have to teach you, do you see the meaning in those words, can you understand what that person is trying to communicate, or are you just pretending to be listening, waiting in fact for your turn to speak, preparing your speech in your mind rather than listening, reading the books you read so that you can add them to your long list, to brag to your friends, family, coworkers etc. how well read you are?

Just look how beautifully Henry David Thoreau talks about this: “A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down, and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting.”

I must finish by acting. Isn’t that beautiful? Isn’t that precious? Isn’t that what we should all be doing? How can you read, not only those powerful words that were spoken by Jesus but most of the things you read, without taking action, without putting them into practice, without walking the talk? This is the path to our growth, this is the path to our evolution.

We can learn from everything we do, from every person we encounter whether they are friends or foes. We can discover and learn great things by just sitting quietly in a room, for: “Contemplation is both the highest form of activity (since the intellect is the highest thing in us, and the objects that it apprehends are the highest things that can be known), and also it is the most continuous, because we are more capable of continuous contemplation than we are of any other activity.” Aristotle

No matter where you go, no matter where you turn, no matter whom you’re with, there will be always something new for you to learn.  There is no end to this and those who stop learning will eventually perish. Not in the sense that their heart will stop beating, although that will happen to all of us eventually, but in the sense that their life will have no meaning to them, and if you ask me, this is worse than actually being dead.
